| Wanting to get out of the Bay Area, we discovered San Luis Obispo county, near the coast half way between Los Angeles and San Francisco. The land is gorgeous, but now that we've left California we're not sure we could ever go back. |

Click on a photo to enlarge. We are in the city of Atascadero, 10 minutes N of San Luis Obispo, 10 minutes E from the ocean at Morro Bay, 10 minutes S of Paso Robles. We are 2 miles from town, but it sometimes takes a few minutes to wind down the road, especially at night because we have to drive sloooww to avoid hitting the hundreds of DEER that are EVERYWHERE. The town has 30,000 people, and almost all the lots are zoned 3 acre and above. Our neighbors have horses, sheep, goats, llamas, chickens, and we even saw some long horn steer a couple lots over. Everybody we have met down there knows everybody else we have met. It's very different! We're on a bit of a hill, but have been told it's "pretty flat for Atascadero" so building shouldn't be too much trouble. We have 4 acres total.
